Learn to Skate

Community Education / Youth Sports -
Community Education - Winter & Spring 2026

Our Learn to Skate Program is designed specifically for new skaters who have not previously participated in the New Richmond Youth Hockey Association (NRYHA).

This course focuses on the basics in a fun, supportive environment – perfect for young beginners stepping on the ice for the first time.

If you participated in the Fall Learn to Skate and didn’t play hockey over the winter, you are welcome and encouraged to register for the Spring session as well.

There will be two 30 minute sessions every Thursday in March. Each session is limited to 25 skaters to ensure quality instruction.

Information for the class:
1. Have your child dress comfortably; long johns and sweatpants work great!
2. Nylon gloves (not cotton, they get wet).
3. Inexpensive knee and elbow pads (most discounters have them).
4. A good helmet- bike helmets work but Face mask protection is preferred.
5. Skates - any kind will do (hockey or figure).
